INTOURS DMC KEY SUSTAINABILTY RESULTS
Sustainability in tourism has become a critical focus in recent years due to growing environmental concerns, the need for social equity, and the economic impacts of tourism on local communities. The key sustainability results in tourism can be seen across three main pillars: environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Below are some of our most significant achievements in the recent years:
Environmental Sustainability Results:
Reduced Carbon Footprint: We are starting to use carbon footprint calculator and we plan our programs in a way to reduce unnecessary travel. We are working with hotels that have implemented sustainable practices in their business models and are certified.
Conservation of Biodiversity: We promote programs with responsible visitation to natural sites like Triglav nation park. We support eco-tourism and small local businesses in the countryside.
Waste Reduction: We are using an online tool that helps us prepare a program with minimum waste and we are no longer offering plastic water bottles on our daily excursions with the exception of arrival day.
Economic Sustainability Results:
Long-term Economic Benefits: We are promoting sustainable tourism in terms of generating steady income for local communities, working hard to build partnerships and bring groups on regular basis. This includes promoting local businesses, artisans, and food producers, and supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in various regions in Slovenia.
Diversification of Tourism Offerings: We are promoting and encouraging development in lesser-known areas or offering less know products & services in cooperation with the local community, examples of such programs would be Cooking as they once did in Bohinj, Basics of knitting that both have Bohinjsko certificate, but also Butul family farm and tasting in the Mediterranean region.
Social Sustainability Results:
Cultural Preservation: Tourism should also try to preserve and promote local heritage, traditions, and customs. We are working on regular basis with a folklore group called Tine Rožanc and offering local musicians to perform on our events. In this way we are helping to safeguard our cultural identity and showing our customers our traditions.
Increased Awareness and Education: Informing our partners about our demands and demands of our clients for sustainable practices encourages them to continue the path to more sustainable business practices. We informing our guests about the sustainable achievements of the destination thus making them more aware of their impact on site but also in their daily life.
Plans for the future:
Data-Driven Sustainability: Advances in data collection and analytics allow us to follow each event in terms of numbers and make our events more and more sustainable.
